This is God’s group.
He says it’s new wine for the new wine skin.
The Lord asked me to set this group up so we can do things in a new way.
He showed me how to set this in place so anyone can take the initiative to host a fast.
The one who would like to lead shares with the Skype group that they would like to host a fast, and describes what kind of fast they would like it to be. They also list the intended time they would like others to join a Skype call to pray. The topic opens for discussion and when everything is finalized the initiator posts each day of the fast in one of the preset slots on the group’s Sign Up Genius calendar. Others can easily see the days / times people are fasting / praying and add their name to one of the slots.
A sample post in Sign Up Genius would look like this: “6-7am Pray, 3 day fast for prosperity”
All times are posted in EDT
On the day / time the fast is set to pray, the person hosting the fast will initiate a Skype call through the fasting group and others can join the call to pray. The person hosting the fast will direct the structure of the prayer time.
This is a great opportunity to Fast, Pray and Grow. Anyone can set up a fast for one day each week, one day each month, or a one-time fast for a set number of days. Prayer times can be for 15 minutes, 1 hour, or more depending on how the Lord leads.
Samples of what a fast might look like:
Communion is always a good option to do together as a group as part of a fast. An option might be to fast dinner one day per week and lead a 15 minute communion/prayer call on Skype in the evening.
Researching the prayers that Jesus prayed (about 25) or the prayers Paul prayed (about 40) and hosting a fast to pray one of these prayers each day. It could be fasting breakfast and praying a different prayer over one another for 15 minutes each morning for one week for the first week of each month. This would be posted on Sign Up Genius each day for the first 7 days of the month and a sample post would look like this: 7-7:15am Pray prayers Jesus prayed, Fast breakfast, First week of each month.
Joining the Group for Prayer
If you only have 15 minutes to pray on a 1 hour prayer time, that’s ok. There are no strings of obligation so if someone’s praying simply dismiss yourself, there’s no need to interrupt to say goodbye. Part of what the Lord is teaching us is to have our soul loosed and free from the obligations of man. He wants us to serve, not be bound by tradition.
Share your fast plans and invite others to join. This is a great way to join together in unity and strengthen the body of Christ.
All fasts should be posted on this Sign Up Genius calendar so everyone can go to one place to see what’s happening.
Join our group on Skype to get to know everybody (when the skype page opens, you must log in to join the group). Join Sign Up Genius to find or post fast and prayer times.
