How the Group Started
The Lord started this fasting group in November 2022 when Denise, a women in my online connect group, was starting a 21 day restrictive food fast with a focus on her family. During one of our regular weekly meetings the Lord instructed me to share that he wanted us to take turns praying with Denise for 15 minutes each day while she was on the 21 day fast. At this time, we were completely overtaken by the Spirit of God. I asked God, What are you doing? He responded, I’m putting new wine in the new wine skins.
At this time I had no idea how he wanted me to accomplish our prayer time, but later he brought the Sign Up Genius app to mind. He had me get a 2-3 hour time slot that Denise was available for each day. I put these time slots on the Sign Up Genius calendar and the group members took turns selecting a 15 minute time to pray with Denise each day within the time slots she was available.
We were successful in doing what the Lord had instructed us to do. I prayed with Denise on the last day of her fast and the Lord told me that our efforts to join together as a group enabled us to destroy principalities that were over our families that were higher up than we would have been able to reach on our own.

Then This Skype Group Was Formed
From there, I was prompted by the Lord to start this fasting group. Knowing myself, and how I love to create new things, I needed confirmation to be sure this was God’s plan and not mine. I’m the leader of an online connect group, and a member of a group of leaders that have online connect groups through the church I attend. I posted the results of Denise’s fast in the leader’s group Skype chat, and through the encouragement of one of the leaders in that group, this group was started.

A Skype Feed Post
This is a post I put in the fasting group Skype feed on November 28, 2022.
We were chosen for such a time as this and I am in awe of what God is doing.
When I set up the group I paid close attention to make sure that I did things according to God’s will. The structure that he set in place for us is different from what we’re used to because God wants it this way. We are leaders and he wants us to have a new way to lead.
Sunday night, in the miraculous way that God leads me, he took me to the Hillsdale College online course “American Citizenship and Its Decline,” and used this course to confirm to me that I had completed what he asked for.
In the 10 minute introduction to the course, the president of Hillsdale College talks about how our country was founded with an expectation for the citizens to contribute to the building of the country and to handle what needed to be done. Rather than go to the government to get all of their needs met, the people believed that they were the strength of the country, and they contributed to make our country strong.
God set us up to initiate our own fasts by using Sign Up Genius to set the schedule of when we will initiate our own calls on Skype to get together and pray with and for one another. This is what God is doing for us to have this same structure for our group. As members of the group, we decide what this group will look like, rather than having one person dictate what it should look like.

Our 21 Day Fast
We did a 21 day fast from December 1st to 21st. Some of us did a water fast, some did a Daniel fast and others fasted in their own way. Whoever was available met together on Skype for prayer each day. There were so many revelations and blessings that were received by everyone during the fast. Many of them are posted in the group’s Skype feed. Feel free to go there and read them, I hope they will be encouraging.
One of the highlights of the fast was doing communion each evening. Communion was lead by Arturo, a group leader from the online leaders group. Communion was always a wonderful time. On the evenings when some of the members who were in other time zones joined us it was the middle of the night for them. The Spirit of God completely overtook the group during this time which made it a sacred blessing.
The ending of the fast was amazing as the Lord set everyone in my connect group free. This was just one of the many blessings I received for participating. God showed us the beauty of the prodigal son being received by the father, just as our Father receives us through Jesus. We are washed clean and our sins are remembered no more, just as the father received his prodigal son as though he had never sinned. The brother didn’t really know what was happening, just as the world doesn’t understand how we are washed clean. Let’s celebrate who we are in Jesus today!

Our 7 Day Fast
We’ve since done a 7 day fast in March lead by Lisa, a member of another online group. The fast was focused on the book, Atomic Power with God Through Fasting and Prayer by Franklin Hall. Through this fast we acquired a deeper understanding of the power of fasting, and what we can expect to receive through the discipline of fasting. This was truly an amazing experience!

Our Fast For Israel
The Lord opened the doors again and we are participating in the Isaiah 62 Global 21-Days of Prayer and Fasting (May 7-28, 2023) that was initiated by IHOPKC and soon took on a life of its own. Members of the group will each be fasting in their own way and we will be meeting for prayer for Israel at 5am each morning. The Lord shared with me that while we pray for Israel, he wants us to focus on synchronicity in our prayer time. He also shared that His goal for the group is for us to gain a deeper understanding of prioritizing. For our eyes to be opened to see how many things eat up our time that are not of Him, and to gain discipline to accomplish what he is asking us to achieve.
